What does carat mean?
Karat indicates the proportion of pure gold in the alloy. Pure gold is 24 karat – but it is too soft for jewelry that is to be worn daily. Therefore, gold is mixed with other metals to create a durable alloy. The karat is always indicated by the ring's hallmark: 18k is stamped 750, 14k is stamped 585, and 9k is stamped 375, numbers that indicate the gold content in thousandths.
18 Carat
18 karat contains 75% pure gold (18/24). This provides a rich, warm gold tone and excellent durability – the most popular balance of luster and strength.
14 Karat
14 karat contains 58.5% pure gold (14/24). A slightly lighter tone but even more durable for everyday wear – perfect for those who want quality at a lower price.
9 Carat
